Food from the heart and the hearth

About Mads’ Cookhouse
Hello there! I am Madhu, a young woman of seventy-plus who loves to cook, feed, and eat. My family calls me Mads. I cook up a storm in my cookhouse and my home always smells delicious. Borrowed teeth (dentures), borrowed leg (titanium rod), and borrowed eyes do not hold me. I am notorious for increasing waistlines and decreasing will power.
If you love to cook or just starting out, follow me as I cook up and share some lip smacking recipes. Food should be simple and easy to cook. I share secrets from my kitchen (and those of my mother). So grab that pen and paper (share/bookmark button) and let’s get going.
Lip-smacking Recipes

Paneer (Cottage Cheese) Bhurji
There is more to Punjabi cuisine than just tandoori chicken. Quick and easy to rustle up, Paneer Bhurji is also a family favorite.

Masoor Dal Kebabs

Lemon Coriander Soup
No soup is quite as refreshing as the Lemon Coriander Soup. A tangy, clear soup rich in vitamin C, it is perfect for the summers.

Kettle Chicken
Kettle Chicken has a lot of history attached to it. It is an old recipe of my mother that is loved by four generations of foodies.

Jackfruit (Kathal) Biryani
Kathal or jackfruit biryani is one of my signature dishes that is always high in demand. The perfect vegetarian alternative to a regular biryani.

Instant Rava (Semolina) Idli
We all love soft and spongy idlis. The traditional method requires hours of soaking and fermenting. Try this instant microwave recipe instead.
