Cucumber raita is made almost 3–4 times a week at home. This version looks very similar to ours, though we never add green chilies, I might try adding them next time to see how it changes the flavor. It’s always great to see a familiar dish presented a little differently.

I love this recipe because it is so refreshing and cooling more so during vrats when one can suffer from acidity too.I just have one query- The cucumber has to be grated with the peel , do you recommend any special type ? I generally take away the peel and seeds when using cucumber unless it is the English cucumber.

You made me so nostalgic, Madhu ji. My mom used to make kheera raita almost every other day in summer. My dad also liked aloo raita, and that was made especially for him. Plain curd is better than any flavoured one for raita unless it’s a dinner party.

This is a staple on the days we fast. Cools the stomach and helps prevent acidity, from staying hungry for that long.

This is one of my favourite raitas! My mom used to make it like this, with grated cucumber. My family prefers it with finely-chopped cucumber pieces instead. So refreshing and tasty either way!

Raita be it in any format and in any occasion…I just love it. Cucumber 🥒 raita my mom used to make in summers and we add a little bit sugar. It tastes yum 😋 and can be taken like a evening snack too.
