Ingredients

  • 3 apples (approx 400 gms)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 4 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp fennel powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 tbsp oil

Instructions

  • Peel and core the apples and coarsely grind them. Do this just before you start cooking or the apples will oxidize and turn brown.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add in the cumin seeds and fennel seeds and allow them to crackle.
  • Add in the ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute or two.
  • Add in the coarsely ground apples and the sugar. Mix well. Cook on medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add in the salt, Kashmiri red chili powder, cumin powder, fennel powder, and black pepper powder. Mix well and cook until the apples soften.
  • Add in the vinegar and the garam masala. Cook until the liquid dries up and it is a chutney consistency.
  • The sweet and spicy apple chutney is ready to serve. Enjoy with parathas or just a slice of bread.
